Please have the exact change available, as drivers cannot make change. Transfers are free and must be requested when you get on the bus and pay your cash fare. Children ages 4 and under ride free. Contactless Fare Payment available starting January 3rd, 2023 through the JAC app.

Note: Medicare cards are accepted for the reduced fare.

Senior/Disabled ID cards are available at the JAC Office for your convenience. This card may be used to provide proof of eligibility for the reduced fare, or to purchase reduced bus passes. 

Passes
Bus passes are more convenient than cash and offer discounted fares. Monthly passes are valid for unlimited rides within a 31-day period from date purchased.

Contactless Fare
JAC is excited to introduce a new a contactless fare payment system operated by Token Transit. This phone-based application allows riders to purchase JAC single and monthly tickets using your phone instead of physical paper tickets or paying cash on the bus. The app can be downloaded from the app store by searching ‘Token Transit’.

  

 

Previous Passes & Tickets

JAC will honor and accept all previously purchased 10-ride and monthly passes as well as any unused single-use tickets or other fare media through February 28, 2023. Fare media can also be exchanged for new passes and tickets at the JAC administration building. After this date, no previously issued monthly passes or other fare media will be accepted or exchanged. JAC encourages riders to use what may be lying around prior to February 28, 2023.

Monthly Hopper and One-Ride Hopper bus passes are available for purchase at the following locations throughout Carson City:

Treasurer's Office, City Hall, 201 N. Carson St.
Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop St.
Carson City Senior Citizens Center - SENIOR BUS PASSES ONLY, 911 Beverly Dr.

Fares and passes also available for purchase through the Token Transit app available through all app stores. 

Senior Bus Pass Program

JAC offers unlimited free rides on the regular fixed-route system for seniors participating in the Senior Bus Pass Program.  Seniors can participate in this program by registering with JAC at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center at 911 Beverly Drive during normal business hours.  To register, seniors need to be age 60 or older and complete a registration form.  Present the completed registration to a representative at the Senior Center finance office to receive your free Senior Bus Pass.  Passes are valid for unlimited rides on the regular fixed-route service for an entire year (generally July 1 to June 30), as long as grant funding is available.
